FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT, THE WEBSITE, INCLUDING ALL CONTENT MADE AVAILABLE ON OR ACCESSED THROUGH THE WEBSITE, IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND WORLD STUDIOS MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER FOR THE CONTENT ON THE WEBSITE. FURTHER, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, NON-INFRINGEMENT, TITLE, MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. If any part of these warranty disclaimers or limitations of liability is found to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason or if World Studios is otherwise found to be liable to you in any manner, then World Studios’s aggregate liability for all claims under such circumstances for liabilities shall not exceed five dollars (US$5.00).

Neither World Studios nor any other party involved in the creation or delivery of World Studios shall be liable under any theory of tort, contract, strict liability or other legal or equitable theory for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive or similar damages, lost profits, lost data, or other lost opportunities (each of which is hereby excluded by the mutual agreement of you and World Studios), regardless of whether World Studios has been advised of the possibility of such damages, arising out of access, use, or inability to use the Website or any interruptions, errors, or omissions in the Website (including but not limited to, its content). You specifically waive any and all claims you may have arising out of your use and/or access of the Website.

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: This policy is effective and was last updated on September 16, 2026.

World Studios is a global community of independent, student-led studios and project participants. The Slack platform located at worldstudios.enterprise.slack.com/ (“The Platform”) is our shared workspace — where studios coordinate, members find each other, and projects take shape. At World Studios, we understand that privacy is a very important issue for our users and we are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy” or "Policy"). This Policy covers the treatment of all Personal Data that World Studios, Inc. ("World Studios", "we" or "us") collects, uses, and discloses (our Personal Data “processing” activities). This Privacy Policy is intended to help you understand our practices regarding Personal Data processed, including through (i) our websites including but not limited to www.world-studios.org and any other affiliated websites (collectively, “Website(s)”), (ii) the World Studios Slack application (our “Application” or “App”), and (iii) any other digital properties by which you access the World Studios services (the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy describes how we process your personal information or personal data (“Personal Data”), as defined by applicable law.

When you interact with the Platform, you acknowledge our Personal Data Processing as described in this Privacy Policy, and all additional terms and conditions governing your use of the Services.

1. Collection of Personal Data

We collect several types of Personal Data from and about users of the Platform, including:

a. Data We Collect from You Directly

The type of Personal Data we collect depends on your relationship with us—whether you are a World Studios student or you are simply visiting our Websites. We may collect your Personal Data in a number of ways, including via our Website or Slack Application, email, social media, or automatically when you visit our Platform, as described below:

  • Registration, Use of, and Communication About our Platform. When you register for, use our Services or communicate with us about our Platform (for example, to sign up for and log into the World Studios Platform or download and use our App), you may provide Personal Data about yourself, such as your name, physical address, email address, telephone number, photograph, other identifier by which you may be contacted online or offline.
  • Communication or Project-Related Information You Input into the World Studios Web or Application Interface. The World Studios Platform enables collaboration on projects and communication with other World Studios students via Website and Application interface. When you work on projects or communicate with others via the World Studios Platform, we will collect and process any information or communications you submit to the platform (your “User Generated Content”).
  • Demographic Information. When you register, you have the option to provide certain demographic information, such as your birth date, gender or gender identity, race/ethnicity, religion, regional affiliation, educational background and professional experience (“Demographic Information”) to help match you with students of similar backgrounds and interests.
  • Surveys and Research. We may collect Personal Data from you if you participate in research or surveys.

b. Data We Collect Automatically

We receive certain types of Personal Data automatically whenever you interact with us or our Platform. Our Platform uses “cookies” and other tracking technologies to collect this information, which may include:

  • Connection, Device, and Browser Information. When you visit our Platform, we may collect technical information about your device, including information about your Internet connection, the equipment you use to access the Website, browser type, IP address, operating system, device identifiers and usage details ("Technical Information").
  • Information about how you interact with us. We may collect Technical Information about your use of our Platform and how you interact with our emails, Website, and Application, such as statistics on your page views and downloads, traffic to and from our Website or Application, referral URL, ad data, features used, links clicked, emails opened, and dates and times of interactions.
  • Location information. We may collect imprecise location information derived from, for example, your IP address or zip code.

c. Information Collected from Other Sources

We may collect certain information about you from third party sources, for example:

  • Third-Party Technology Partners. We partner with companies like Slack to deliver the Platform. We may receive certain information from you regarding your activities on the Platform, as well as your User Generated Content. Additionally, we may use certain video conferencing tools, like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or WhatsApp. Your interactions on these platforms may be recorded or transcribed, and certain information regarding your interactions on those platforms may be shared with us. In addition to this Policy, you should review the privacy policies of Slack and any other technology provider used in connection with your use of the Platform.
  • Your College or University. When you register on the Platform, we may request certain information to verify your attendance at your college or university, such as a transcript or a letter regarding your attendance,
  • Other Studio Members, Project Participants, Leads, or Coaches. As a collaborative Platform, members of your team or others may post or share information regarding you. All posts regarding Platform users are subject to our Terms and Conditions and Community Agreement.

2. Use of Information

We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including Personal Data:

  • To enable you to register for the Platform and administer your account.
  • To provide the Platform, and enable your participation in Studios.
  • To communicate with you, including by providing notifications about activity in your Studio and the Platform.
  • To evaluate the Platform features, for Platform and system administration, and for anonymous user analysis.
  • To notify you about changes to the Platform.
  • To allow you to participate in Studios and the Platform.
  • To deliver Platform services including communication with other peers, Studio Leads, and project Coaches through the Platform.
  • To allow students from other Studios to find, communicate with, and support you and each other.
  • To draw insights from aggregated data for the purpose of continuous improvement, furtherance, and promotion of World Studio’s mission and programs, including educational outreach.
  • To estimate our audience size and usage patterns.
  • To store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize the Platform according to your individual interests.
  • To speed up your searches.
  • To recognize you when you return to the Platform.
  • To improve the Platform.
  • To secure the Platform, including detecting and responding to threats to the Platform, protecting the health and safety of Studio Members, Project Participants, Leads, Coaches, and the public, and preventing, investigating, and prosecuting criminal activities.
  • To comply with the law, including complying with our obligations to retain business records for minimum retention periods defined by law, complying with law, regulation, court orders, or other legal process, detecting, and preventing, and responding to fraud, intellectual property infringement, violation of our contracts or agreements, violations of law, or other misuse of the Platform.
  • In any other way we may describe when you provide the Personal Data or for any other purpose for which you have provided consent.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may use, process, transfer, and store Personal Data in an anonymous (or pseudonymous) and aggregated manner. We may combine Personal Data with other information, collected online and offline, including information from third-party sources. We may also use information in other ways, with consent or as permitted by applicable law. World Studios may collect, use, share and store anonymized (or pseudonymized) aggregated data collected through the World Studios Platform for benchmarking, analytics, A/B testing, metrics, research, reporting, machine learning and other business purposes. In such cases, we will do our best to ensure the information will not identify you individually, but we do not make assurances that such information is not capable of re-identification.

3. Disclosure of Information

a. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the Platform, to simplify our interaction with you and to market our Platform to you. Cookies are electronic identifiers that are transferred automatically to you through your browser that allow our systems to save certain information you provide us and store information about you so we can recognize you when you visit the Website in the future. We may use cookies and similar technologies, such as log files, pixel tags, web beacons, clear GIFs, software development kits (“SDKs”), or other similar technologies (collectively, “Tracking Technologies”) to collect information about the ways you interact with and use the Platform, to support and enhance features and functionality, to monitor performance, to personalize content and experiences, for marketing and analytics, and for other lawful purposes. Certain cookies may also allow you to avoid logging in more than once, which saves time, and enable us to create a customized Platform that fits your needs. You may, at any time, disable or refuse to accept cookies by changing the preferences or settings on your web browser. If you choose to disable cookies, you will still be able to use the Platform. However, you will not be able to fully take advantage of certain automation and other functionality features available.

Most internet browsers accept cookies by default. You can block cookies by activating the setting on your browser that allows you to reject all or some cookies. Although you are not required to accept cookies, if you block or reject them, you may encounter issues using the Platform.

We use third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics for analytics services. For information on how Google processes and collects your information regarding Google Analytics and how you can opt-out, please click here (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). We may also use Google Ad Services. To learn more about the data Google Ad Services collects and how your data is used by Google and to opt out of certain Google browser Interest-Based Advertising, please visit here (https://myadcenter.google.com/?sasb=true).

Your browser settings may allow you to automatically transmit a “Do Not Track” signal to online services you visit. Note, however, there is no consensus among industry participants as to what “Do Not Track” means in this context. We currently do not alter our practices when we receive a “Do Not Track” signal from a visitor’s browser. To learn more about “Do Not Track,” you can visit http://www.allaboutdnt.com, but we are not responsible for the completeness or accuracy of this third-party information.

When you use the Platform, we may receive information about your computer or mobile device, including a unique identifier for your device. We and advertising partners we collaborate with, including ad networks, may use cross-device/cross-context tracking. For example, you might use multiple browsers on a single device, or use various devices (such as desktops, smartphones, and tablets), which can result in you having multiple accounts or profiles across these various contexts and devices.

We may engage and collaborate with service providers and other third parties to serve advertisements on other online services. Some of these ads may be tailored to your interests based on your browsing of the Platform and elsewhere on the Internet referred to as “interest-based advertising” and “online behavioral advertising” (“Interest-based Advertising”), which may include sending you an ad on another online service after you have left the Service (i.e., “retargeting”). Such Interest-Based Advertising may use data from across devices, websites, platforms, and applications.

In addition, we may serve ads on other online services targeted to reach people on those services that are also identified on one or more of our databases (“Matched List Ads”). This is done by using Tracking Technologies or by matching common factors between our databases and the databases of the other online services. For instance, we may use such ad services offered by Facebook, LinkedIn, and other third-party services. We are not responsible for these third-party services, including, without limitation, the security of the data. World Studios is not responsible for the effectiveness of, or compliance with, any third parties’ opt-out options or programs or the accuracy of their statements regarding their programs.

b. Third-Party Services and Social Features

The Platform may include links to third-party services over which World Studios does not have control. Examples of social media plugins include the buttons to link to Facebook, X and LinkedIn (“Social Features”) from our Website. Such links do not constitute an endorsement by World Studios of those Third-Party Services or imply any association with their operators. You acknowledge that World Studios is providing these links to you only as a convenience, and further agree that World Studios is not responsible for the content of such Third-Party Services. Your use of Third-Party Services is subject to the terms of use and privacy policies for the applicable Third-Party Service. We encourage you to be aware when leaving our Platform and to read the privacy statements of Third-Party Services that collect your Personal Data.

If you use Social Features, and potentially other Third-Party Services, information you post or provide access to may be publicly displayed on the World Studios Platform or by the third-party services that you use. Similarly, if you post information on a third-party service that references World Studios (e.g., by tagging World Studios in a post), your post may be used on or in connection with the World Studios Platform or otherwise by us. Also, both World Studios and the third-party may have access to certain information about you and your use of the World Studios Platform and any third-party service.

Please be aware that World Studios is not responsible for the privacy practices of other Platforms. Please check the privacy statements of these other websites or platforms for more information about their policies on collection and use of Personal Data.

c. Other Disclosures

We may disclose Personal Data that we collect or you provide as described in this Policy to our technical consultants, third-party auditors and other third parties who make the Website available, enhance its functionality or provide associated services. We may also disclose your Personal Data to other third parties in order to fulfill the purpose for which you provide it (for example, if you provide an email address, picture, or other identifier that you choose to share with other users).

We will not disclose information that we collect, or you provide in ways different from what is disclosed in this Policy. Except as otherwise permitted herein, we will only release Personal Data to a third party with your consent or to the extent required by law or to exercise our legal rights. Please note that we do reserve the right to transfer your Personal Data and other information to our successors in business and purchasers of World Studios, whether as a going concern or as part of a bankruptcy, liquidation, merger, acquisition, asset sale, or similar proceeding.

4. Aggregate Information

World Studios may disclose aggregate information about users, and information that does not identify any individual, without restriction. Disclosure to third parties of aggregated non-personally identifiable information, including anonymous Demographic Information, may further World Studios’ mission. An example of such disclosure would be the publication of reports for the purpose of offering general career guidance drawn from aggregated user information that is displayed in non-personally identifiable form.

5. Your Personal Data Choices

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the Personal Data you provide to us. For the interactive features of the Platform, we have created mechanisms by which you can opt-in to disclosures of Personal Data with other users, or specified subsets of other users.

You may contact us at support@world-studios.org at any time regarding your Personal Data and to request corrections to your Personal Data. You may also make changes to your online account in the account settings section of the Platform. That will not, however, change the information that exists in other records that we maintain.

Alternatively, you may ask us at any time to stop sending you direct marketing emails by emailing us at support@world-studios.org or by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in those emails. You may also opt out of marketing emails when logged into your World Studios account. You may manage your choices regarding push notifications by opting in or out in your mobile device’s notification settings. Please note that your opt-out is limited to the email address used and will not affect subsequent subscriptions. If you opt-out of only certain communications, other subscription communications may continue. Even if you opt out of receiving promotional communications, we may, subject to applicable law, continue to send you non-promotional communications, such as communications about your account, communications, or your participation in a Studio

6. Information Security

Keeping your Personal Data secure is a top priority for World Studios. We take reasonable measures to protect your Personal Data from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet or data storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, despite our efforts, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of those systems. We do not warrant or represent that Personal Data about you will be protected against loss, misuse, or alteration by third parties.

If you choose, or are provided with, a username, password, or any similar login credentials as part of our security procedures, you must treat such information as confidential, and you must not disclose it to any other person or entity. You are responsible for the security of your password and will be solely liable for any unauthorized use of the Platform under your password.

7. Publicly Accessible Forums and User Interaction

You should be aware that Personal Data which you voluntarily include and transmit online may be viewed and used by others. You are solely responsible for the content of messages you post on the Platform in Studios or any other publicly accessible forums or send directly to other users via any interactive feature of the Platform. These forums and features may include communications functionality between Studio Members, Project Participants, Leads, and Coaches. You should be aware that when you voluntarily disclose Personal Data within a publicly accessible forum or directly to other users, that information may be collected and used by others. Even if you delete your contributions or messages, copies may remain viewable in cached and archived pages, or might have been copied or stored by other users. World Studios is unable to control such uses of your Personal Data, and by using such features you assume the risk that the Personal Data provided by you may be disclosed to and used by third parties.

8. Children

The Platform is intended exclusively for adult users 18 years of age and older. As such, we have no intention of collecting Personal Data from children. Where appropriate, we take reasonable measures to inform children not to submit such information to our Platform or by other means. If we become aware that a child has provided us with Personal Data, we will use all reasonable efforts to delete such information from our database. If you know or suspect that your child who is under the age of 13 has provided us with Personal Data, you should contact us immediately if you would like the information submitted by your child deleted from our records:
